So, for a little while now my laptop has been giving me this very annoying error and then crashing into a flaming pile of shit. The specific error was something to the effect of IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS and the instructions said I should make sure all software and hardware were installed properly.

So, I began the arduous task of deleting every piece of software I could think of, and disconnecting every piece of hardware that wasn’t being used (not that I’d added anything, but I figured, “what the hell?”). In the end, I thought my memory might be bad so I tested it. It wasn’t bad finally it hit me…it’s the hard drive.

I ran some tests, and sure enough, my hard drive was dying. So, I bought a new one. I installed it, started getting the computer reconfigured the way I want it, and wouldn’t you know, I keep getting that same freakin’ error. Now, it isn’t happening as often, and I think it might be a simple problem I’m overlooking. I did have some hardware issues after the re-install, that I have since corrected. I’m not holding my breath, but I am at least hopeful that it is solved, or I will soon solve it.

I’m just not really all that excited about the idea of having to buy a new laptop (even if this one is 4 and half years old). This whole mess is just really annoying.

Speaking of annoying, I ran across this amusing blog entry about Scientology while surfing the Web for stupid/annoying things…Scientology qualifies as both (Shhh…don’t tell them, wouldn’t want them to file a lawsuit.)
