Why I’m Thankful…

Today is Thanksgiving Day. My really good friend, Malcolm, was ranting about the meaninglessness of it all, and the fact that we should be thankful every day. He’s right, for the most part, we do tend to gloss over the day with food and football, and truly miss the whole point. However, considering the fact that [...]

Cigarettes and Whiskey…

So, I was sitting at O’s with my friend Matt watching football and discussing life, the universe and everything. Inevitably, we began our usual banter that always reminds me of heckling…except we don’t really heckle anyone or anything. We just kind of crack wise-ass jokes about life, women, and liquor.

I’m Ready to Run for Congress…

We truly live in a great country. There was a day when people who were elected to office had some sort of demonstrated leadership experience, proven performance, or were military heroes. In a lot of instances, the candidates were all three. However, in the recent election it was proven that the American people no longer believe [...]

My Brother Wears Pink…

My younger brother is a songwriter and a singer, and a fan of music in general. He often will write and record one of his songs and post them on YouTube. I have posted some of his videos here previously (don’t think I didn’t notice that you took down your last video, Nick). However, he doesn’t [...]

Tell Me Something That I Don’t Know…

I have been feeling very introspective and philosophical lately. I have been wondering if I’m really the kind of person that I think that I am. So, I’ve decided to ask my readers to tell me something about my character that they think I might not know about myself.

Here’s how this is going to work. I [...]

Happy Birthday, Caitlyn Rose…

It’s hard for me to wrap my brain around the fact that my best friend has a six year old daughter. Beyond that, he has a young son as well. His daughter, Caitlyn, is the sweetest little girl on Earth and along with a few of my other friends’ kids is one of the few people [...]

Cross-Pollination…

The frustrating thing about “cold sores” or “fever blisters” is that everyone knows what they really are…”MOUTH HERPES.” Now, I have been getting cold sores about once or twice a year since I was in middle school. I think the first one was after I split my lip in a fall at school. I don’t know if that was a coincidence, or what, but since then, I tend to get them in the spring or fall. The most common time is in October/November and almost always after my lips get chapped by the changing weather. I usually can tell when my lips are getting chapped badly enough for me to get a cold sore, but I don’t like lip balm, and generally ignore it until it’s too late.

Recently, I had my annual cold sore, and it was a particularly irritating one…

 Cold Sore

This is when the sore is scabbed over. It’s less contagious at this point, but hideous to look at.
